What is it? A genetically modified organism is one that has had its molecules and proteins chemically altered through any method. Also refers to a change in the genetic material. It can be done by incorporating genes from other organisms or by rearranging genes already present. There is no limit to alterations. A genetically modified organism can also be called "transgenic" or transfer of genes.
